Last night at the 18th annual SAG Awards there were many deserving winners, actors and actresses that have earned their way on stage to give that very sought after thank you speech. Thankfully their art remains in words and not really in style, though this year’s SAG Award ceremony proved to be more fun, upbeat and looser compared to others, the fashion remained predictable and upright sad. But like any game there were misses and there were wins and there were those who just are ok with, well, being ok.
Angelina Jolie accompanied by Brad Pitt had on a black leather halter synched at the waist gown by Jenny Packham that should have stayed with Jenny Packham. This look was Angelina Jolie years ago when she was still trying to figure out where she fits in this industry. This look was horrible for Angelina Jolie especially after her wonderful red and white satin gown at the Golden Globes. Lea Michelle seems to have done it again, well wrong that is. Remember her look at the Golden Globes, the sheer antique Marchesa illusion dress that made her look like she was 40. Well this look made her look like she was a 45 year old woman forcing sexy. Lea we want to see you in your young fun bright colors, and textures! We want you back in looks that show the sexiness in both your personality and your body, not just your body and that’s all she did in this corseted side split Atelier Versace gown.
Last night’s biggest SAG award winners were those who starred in The Help. But last night the three stars of the movie needed no help with their style. Emma Stone came out with a fun flirty black Alexander McQueen A-lined three quartered dress. Because the dress was such a statement she minimalized her accessories wearing Tiffany &Co drop earrings and a subtle red lip. Octavia Spencer looked amazing wearing a round neck silver beaded gown, which changed textures at the bottom half with a chiffon like rouged skirt tied at the waist. Though both actresses looked flawless at the SAG Awards supporting actress Viola Davis resembled a goddess in a Marchesa mid-v cut strapless gown with gold embroidery. She couldn’t have looked better; the color combination looked great for her skin color, her choice of minimal accessories, darker eyeliner and a glossy lip was damn near perfection.
Who to look out for….
Rose Byrne wore a very trendy look at the SAG Awards. It wasn’t good but it wasn’t bad. She wore a haute couture Elie Saab all white beaded low-v neck jumpsuit. She wore the look well but I’m afraid we don’t know that much about her personality to actually know if she could have pulled it off more.
With all the wins, and with all the disappointments all we can do is sit around and wait until the next awards show and see if anyone stepped up or fell right back down. Until then stay Ethnic!
Throw out your black and introduce your closet to the new world of color.
You probably didn’t see this coming, but why not? Even the grass that you walk on is green, the sun that shines every day is yellow, and the world that you live in is blue. So what exactly is stopping you from wearing all those colors together or even all at once!
Fashion has led us in so many directions, and though what you see on the runways may look beautiful on the models, you may not know how exactly to do that yourself. Well, leave it to me to tell you how easy it can actually be. Color blocking is the ability to put three, four or as many colors (consciously speaking) together in one look and have it mirror your creativity, your feelings, all at once and look AMAZING doing so.
Designers like Gucci, Prada, and Missoni are working this color block trend, mixing and matching using either different color schemes or the same color with different tones. Other affordable retail stores like H&M, J. Crew, Top Shop and even Target who just signed a deal with Missoni, are trying this trend out with their own fashions.
Another new way of bringing color into your wardrobe, believe it or not, is by wearing all one color. GO MONOTONE! Yes, wear all red, pink, navy blue (to replace your black), whatever color you think would look good on you all at once.
My biggest advice to you is to just take a day off and talk to your closet it has probably been begging you for color for the longest time, here’s your time to listen. Try different outfits on, put on different colors, have fun, play around and most importantly Color Your Life!
I could feel it. His breath on my neck as his kissed me so deeply. All I could hear was him tell me I was his. And tonight, that’s all I dreamt to be. So he entered me. And I allowed. I couldn’t help but show him every inch of me. He took my soul with is hands, and held my heart between his lips. He had me. I backed up on him, because I couldn’t let him go. I gave it to him, because I missed his everything. And his everything gave me goose pumps in places I’ve never been cold. The word “like” became insignificant. I was one in 6 billion to him and he was flawless to me. It was never forced. No. It couldn’t be, there was an attraction, an immediate attraction. But this feeling tonight felt nothing like the first word he uttered in my ears, though he won my heart. No,this night feels nothing like the last text he wrote me, though he lifted my spirit. No. This night was different. This night was the night I made love to his words.
